34th North Carolina Civil War Reenactment Group

Honor, History, Heritage

The 34th North Carolina, Company H reenactors were formed in 2004 under the leadership of Bill Allocco, Steve Legawiec, and Tom Bowers, each with over 25 years experience in the field.

The unit is out of Rochester, New York, with members in the surrounding area. We are active members of the 3rd Battalion of the Army of Northern Virginia. We strive to portray the men of the 34th and the whole Confederate Army with accuracy - based on BMD vital records and personal accounts of actual soldiers - and above all, with honor.

The 34th participates in many Reenactment events throughout the year, so we encourage you to come see us in action! For information on becoming a member of the 'Rough and Readys’, please see the Getting Started as a Civil War Reenactor section and Frequently Asked Questions.

Get a glimpse of what life was like for the Rough and Readys - the 'Rough Stuff' section has lots of interesting info about Civil War gear, slang, hardtack and coffee!
